如何选择合适的工业连接器

How to choose the right industrial connector? We can consider the following aspects:

1. Connector type

What to connect, where to use these issues are the first to consider, which determines the type of industrial connector selected. The place where the connector is used (indoor, outdoor, corrosive environment, etc.) will affect whether the airtightness of the aviation plug should be enhanced or the shielding shell should be added outside the insulation body. 2. Environmental requirements

Temperature, humidity and other environmental conditions are determined by the location of the electrical connector, so the location and expected environment should be considered. What is the applicable period of other relevant storage conditions and what is the information. The description of the environment should also cover the requirements for impact and vibration, including the requirements for shipping, and the requirements for production environmental conditions such as welding temperature and welding cycle duration. According to the connector manufacturer, the area around the combined continuous current guided by the connector is the area where the highest temperature is generated.

3. Electrical requirements

When selecting the electrical connector, the electrical requirements of the product should be considered. We need to consider whether the voltage and current requirements of the connector are good. In addition, we also need to consider some other electrical conditions: resistance, allowable resistance variation, millivolt drop, maximum current value, maximum voltage value, inrush current value, characteristic impedance, (VSWR), plugging loss and shielding efficiency.

4. Specifications

Connector manufacturers can use about 25 test organizations (developed specifications) as the source of all or part of their connector test specifications. Consideration must be given to the adoption of appropriate test specifications for specific applications, including international ones.

5. Mechanical performance requirements

For the connector, what kind of volume and footprint is effective; what is the allowable dimensional tolerance; what is the insertion and pull-out force of the terminal; what is the durability of the connector (the frequency of plug-in and pull-out fit). For example, it is very important to determine the tolerance of printed circuit board, which is the critical value of card edge connection and the feasibility of reaching the critical value. For low power circuits, the coating and substrate materials must be specified in accordance with the signal standard and environmental grade.
